While Usman is coming from an impressive victory over Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal has been on a reign of terror even since his comeback to the octagon. While Kamaru Usman is not an easy fight for anyone in the division, fans will be rooting for Masvidal to get the title.
Zabit Magomedsharipov vs Brian Ortega
One of the most exciting talents in the featherweight division, Zabit Magomedsharipov is likely to take on Brian Ortega in April. Ortega has been away from the sport ever since his loss to Max Holloway and his last scheduled fight with Korean Zombie fell apart due to an injury.
Dana White confirmed that this is the fight to make. If this fight comes to fruition then it is going to be the toughest fight for Zabit yet and fans will be expecting a 5 round fight undoubtedly. There is a question surrounding Zabit’s cardio as his performance has deteriorated in the later rounds on many occasions. On the other hand, Ortega will be looking to make a statement on his octagon return.
I spoke with @danawhite about whether the following fights are a done deal:
April: Zabit vs. Ortega
May: Cejudo vs. Aldo
June: Volkanovski vs. Holloway
July: Usman vs. Masvidal pic.twitter.com/2VF7xELpXJ— Aaron Bronsteter (@aaronbronsteter) February 8, 2020
Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway
After a disappointing outing against Volkanovski in the first encounter, Max Holloway is likely to get a rematch in June. This is the fight to make without any doubt. The first fight was not a barn burner and Volkanovski played a smart game and won the fight by decision.
However, Max Holloway has solidified his position as one of the best featherweights ever and a rematch for the title makes the most sense in his next fight. Dana White confirmed that UFC is planning to make the rematch soon.
