EA just came out with a big announcement for mixed martial arts fans. UFC 4 reveal trailer just dropped, showing us the cover athletes. Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal will be featuring upfront. Interestingly, several other prominent candidates could fit the bill.

With the new generation of gaming revolution right around the corner, it would be wonderful to see a UFC game. However, the game will come out in August, available for PS4 and Xbox One. Several aspects have been worked on from the drawbacks of UFC 3.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, the boxing champions, will also be available with pre-orders. Along with these, there are several new modes and features that have been added to the game. It will not be specifically about fighting in a ring anymore but beyond it. The game will aim to tell the tale of the struggles a martial artist goes through.

EA reveals UFC 4 cover athletes, the curse seems real

Quite a prevalent notion among UFC fans with all the games produced by EA is that athletes on the cover end up with a curse. The cover artists end up with bad luck after they are chosen. Jorge Masvidal’s recent defeat sparked this conjecture back into full force. Masvidal faced Kamaru Usman and had a mere 6 day prep time.

Israel Adesanya is the other fighter on the cover of UFC 4. The Last Stylebender is yet to lose a fight in UFC, making it an interesting game of waiting and watching what happens when he next steps into the octagon.

It is not just UFC. FIFA, Madden, all of these games have cover athletes who seem to hit bad luck after being chosen. Marco Reus, Ronda Rousey and several others fall in the same category.

Beyond the ring

From what we saw in the trailer, UFC 4 will encompass all the transitions in a fighters life. From the street to training and then directly inside the octagon. “Bang it out in the backyard or surround yourself in the storied tradition of the Kumite.”

These new immersive locations will make the action much more intense.

We know that the game will be available exclusively for PS4 and Xbox One. With the shift in paradigm towards a new era of gaming, it is highly unlikely that EA will not consider a change. Thus, it stands as an absolute possibility that PS 5 and Xbox Series X versions would be launched too. However, there is no official news from EA as of yet.
