Daniel Cormier took to social media and gave his immediate reaction to Ben Askren and Jake Paul’s first face-off. ‘Funky’ and ‘Problem Child’ are just weeks away from what is one of the most anticipated combat sports events of the year. The boxing match takes place under the Triller banner and will play out much like Tyson vs Jones Jr did.
Chiefly, both men stared off against each other for the first time and sat down at a presser to talk about the fight. After some heated words were exchanged, the face-off was even more contentious and things got physical. Ben Askren palmed away at Paul’s face and ‘The Problem Child’ responded with a spirited shove.

Daniel Cormier broke down the contentious stare-down and took away plenty from their exchange in front of the cameras. ‘DC’ immediately chimed in that Askren had pulled away with the face-off and established dominance over Jake Paul. In fact, Askren’s assertiveness in this scenario was enough to convince Cormier that he would win the boxing bout.
I just saw Jake Paul reaction to @Benaskren palming his face and I am now convinced that Ben wins. He looked like he wanted to throw a punch and then settled on slapping his ass? Ben smashes this dude. I’m all the way in!!!!

However, despite Askren’s decorated MMA background, there’s still some skepticism about his chances to win the fight. ‘Funky’ Ben is a wrestler through and through and he’s not particularly known for his hands. On the other hand, Jake Paul has captivated the world’s attention with his statement KO of Nate Robinson in his last outing.
The MMA community is standing behind Askren to get the job done at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. UFC President Dana White has gone so far as to bet $1 million on ‘Funky’ to seal the deal against ‘The Problem Child’. Time will be the best indicator as to whether Askren’s experience in combat will help him break-through and end Paul’s undefeated run as a professional.
