Ronnie Coleman, aka ‘The King’, winner of Mr. Olympia for eight consecutive years, had a conversation about his health with Joe Rogan on his podcast. The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) delved into the reasons behind the professional bodybuilder’s retirement.
Coleman had an incredible bodybuilding career but now at 58, is wheelchair-bound and still continues seeking medical solutions.

Acclaimed as the greatest bodybuilder of all time, he had won 26 IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness). Coleman revealed that he had battled with a herniated disc, a spinal condition that can lead to paralysis, throughout his victories. He neglected medical treatment and ignored the pain attributing to its aggravation.
Joe Rogan Advised Ronnie Coleman on Stem Cell Surgery
Coleman divulged he had 13 surgeries on his neck, hips, and back since 2007. He trained like a madman with squats and deadlifts with 800 lbs which eventually led to his current condition. Coleman talked about his last 3 surgeries and how he believed they were not worth the $2 million he spent.

Rogan advised him on getting treatment in America, where many reliable outcomes have been witnessed. Rogan’s own mother went to Panama to get a knee replacement, which turned out successful after many months. He stated, “My mom was scheduled to get a knee replacement. I sent her down to Panama. And 6 months later, started to feel good. 8 months later, no pain at all.”

He earlier also talked about Mel Gibson’s father, who had surgery at 92 years old and is doing much better at 100. He mentioned, “Mel Gibson’s dad was in real bad shape when he was 92. And then now he’s a 100, and he’s fine. He’s gone there a bunch of times. He keeps going back there for stem cells.”

The UFC color commentator asked Coleman about his injury and what might be the cause of his legs getting weak. Rogans asked, “Is it because of your back? Is it something, that’s like, cutting of the nerves or something?” To which Coleman replied, “Yeah, exactly.”
When Rogan asked him whether something could be done about it, Coleman responded, “Maybe one day, they’ll come out with something…. I was thinking about trying those stem cells. They said that should help a lot.”

Coleman talks about how his injury reached this stage
Coleman talked about the long history of his injury, which started when he was a seventeen-year-old and suffered a back injury while playing football. The legendary bodybuilder since then became a regular visitor at the chiropractor’s clinic. Fast-forward to his body-building career, he dislocated his disc in 1996 during an intense training session involving squats. He sought no treatment till after his retirement in 2007.

He had endorsed many products, made three training videos on bodybuilding, and documented his life and career on Netflix titled “Ronnie Coleman: The King”. Coleman continues to work hard. He stated on JRE in his remarkable optimism, “This is the price that I paid to be a legend.”
