Joe Rogan has always promoted working out. The UFC commentator has been very vocal about exercising through his podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’.

The comedian has always looked up to people who have been associated with being fit. He also gets inspired by listening to their stories of pushing hard and getting their exercise routine done.

Rogan once spoke to multiple-time Mr. Olympia winner, Ronnie Coleman on his podcast. Coleman’s achievements intrigued the host.

Rogan, while praising the bodybuilder for his intense workout regime, complimented Coleman. He said, “There’s a certain level, no matter what the sport it is. Champions have a certain level of focus and dedication. And I remember watching that video and go, that’s what a champion looks like.”

Coleman replied, “Well, I also think, I realized that I started working out when I was 12. I kind of fell in love with it when I was 13. And it just kind of became a hobby when I once I joined the powerlifting team.”

“So I enjoyed working out,” Coleman added.

Further, Rogan enquired at Coleman’s age when he won his first Mr. Olympia title. Coleman revealed he was 34.

Joe Rogan is curious about lifting heavy

Joe Rogan additionally investigated Coleman’s philosophy on powerlifting vs lifting heavy.

The UFC analyst said, “Now powerlifting and lifting heavy is always a very controversial thing amongst bodybuilders, right? Because some bodybuilders never lifted as heavy as you did.”

 

Coleman answered, “I lifted heavy because that’s what I like to do. And that’s what I was able to do. Like I said, I was just, kind of like. In a way, I was gifted to be strong like that.”

The bodybuilder further revealed how, during his high school days, he used to lift exceptionally heavy. He thus said, “Even when I was in high school, I was benching about 350. Almost 4 and I was squatting 5 over 5 in high school.”

Ronnie Coleman is regarded as one of the greatest bodybuilders alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has won the prestigious Mr. Olympia title for eight consecutive years, from 1998 to 2005.
