Usman Nurmagomedov, cousin and training partner of Khabib Nurmagomedov believes Khabib can be a better coach than he is a fighter. Usman is training under Khabib at the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA).

And in the lead-up to his next fight at Bellator 269 against Patrik Pietila, the 23-year-old was talking to the media. One of the questions he was asked was if he thought Khabib could do better as a coach than as a fighter.

Usman said, “Yeah, I believe that Khabib can definitely take that path. And whatever he’s putting his mind to, usually and normally, he achieves that. And in this case, I believe that he can definitely be a better coach than he is a fighter.”

The former UFC lightweight champion retired from mixed martial arts in 2020, following his win against Justin Gaethje. He remained undefeated throughout his career and finished with a 29-0 record. However, it looks like he has successfully transitioned into the role of a coach since ending his fighting career.

He helps to train fighters at AKA and Dagestan. With his record and his hardworking nature, Khabib has earned the respect of his training partners and fellow fighters. They all look up to him, and his knowledge can definitely help fighters like Usman grow.

Coach Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib has always maintained the fact that he is not looking to become a full-time coach but is willing to help fighters by giving them advice and sharing his knowledge.

He has been helping fighters like Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov become better fighters. Islam will fight Dan Hooker next at UFC 267 and a win over him will definitely get Islam closer to a title shot. He has a 20-1 record and is on an eight-fight win streak.

Usman, on the other hand, is undefeated. With a record of 13-0, he’ll be fighting at Bellator 269 next and will look to continue his dominant run.

Khabib has been mentoring both the fighters and both of them will look to follow in the footsteps of ‘The Eagle’.
