Fedor Emelianenko is arguably one of the best heavyweight fighters in MMA history. He fought his last fight against Ryan Bader for the heavyweight title at Bellator 290, which he lost. However, Emelianenko has confirmed that he will be engaged in coaching other fighters in his post-retirement days.

Fedor Emelianenko has achieved almost everything in mixed martial arts. Born during the Soviet Union era, ‘The Last Emperor’ has had a career that spanned more than two decades. He is a former combat sambo champion, and also won medals in wrestling. Emelianenko is a legend of PRIDE, winning the heavyweight title and having three successful title defenses. The fans are familiar with the intimidating Russian for his 28-fight win streak, which is a record on its own.

People wondered about Emelianenko’s post-retirement plans. However, ‘The Last Emperor’ confirmed that he will become a full-time coach after his fight against Bader at Bellator 290.

Fedor Emelianenko will focus on coaching after retirement

Many MMA legends like Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Randy Couture, Royce Gracie, Josh Barnett, Dan Henderson, and Mark Coleman joined the retiring Russian fighter after the match ended at Bellator 290. “I was very happy to see all these happy all these legends, all these fighters because with some of them, I’ve shared the ring, and some of them, I was just basically watching them, learning from them,” said Emelianenko after his Bellator 290 fight at the post-fight press conference.

‘The Last Emperor’ seemed happy and content in the press conference, despite losing his final MMA fight in the first round. He also expressed his bitterness towards trash-talking fighters. Emelianenko also confirmed that MMA is a part of his life and will focus on helping and teaching fighters now that he has retired. He said, “That (MMA) is a part of my life, an important part of my life, (along with) my family and my team.” Emelianenko added, “I’m [now] going to dedicate my time to my coaching and to my team.”

Fedor Emelianenko hung up his gloves after a storied MMA career where he recorded 40 wins and 7 losses (1 no contest). The Russian legend will now focus on bringing the next generation of fighters to the fore. They will surely gain a bunch of knowledge from Emelianenko, who has two decades’ worth of experience being at the top of the sport for the better part of his career.
