O’Malley usually takes a dig at his rival but he does not mind being complimented if he deems fit. In a recent turn of events, he asserted that Vera is getting a title fight because of their history. Subsequently, he was asked if he would have an advantage over him. In his response, he said, “I think Cheeto is a cold-blooded killer. I don’t think it’s going to phase him.”  However, at the same time, he asserted as to why he was being gifted this title shot as he did not deserve it.

In the same interview, he claimed that Vera has not defeated opponents as he has in the past. He also hinted that his opponent has not fought anyone credible to get this win. He added, “He didn’t even finish Pedro. So there’s no way he’s coming off this, but like I earned this title fight. Like he knows he’s getting this title fight because I’m the champ.”

One may agree or disagree with his claims but it appears he is considering doing Vera a favor. However,  it bears mention that Vera does not agree with the assertion made by the Batamweigh champion, if anything he argues quite the contrary.

Vera disagrees with O’Malley

According to Vera, given the fact that O’Malley had lost to him, he thought it was the champion that should be chasing him to even the score. Subsequently, he claimed that he did not need O’Malley and disagreed with the idea that he should debited to the champion for this title fight.

He said, “Do whatever the f**k you want kid. I mean you can go fight Cejudo. I mean, when you’re that good and you feel the way I feel – I don’t give a f**k. He needs me. I don’t need him. I already beat him. He’s the champion now. So, he needs to – to get it back. In the other hand, I’m just cool as a cucumber. Working hard, getting better. If it happens, epic! If not, kid, go and s**k a d**k.
