UFC President Dana White had promised the MMA community that 2022 would kick off with a string of epic fights. He indeed lived up to his promise with bookings of Petr Yan vs Aljamain Sterling 2, Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal, and Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway 3.

As Max Holloway withdrew, White had to move quickly to find a replacement. In an interview with TSN Network, the UFC President shed light on a wide range of things, including the new booking featuring ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung.
He said, “Cause we need to, we got sh*t to do. We gotta get this stuff done, believe me. I would love to wait for Giga and see how things plays out but, you know? Is he gonna win, is he gonna come out unscathed? Is he gonna be healthy enough? Can he turnaround quick enough? Hey just listen, Korean Zombie just won a fight he is the number 4th ranked guy in the world. He deserves it.”
This may have disappointed the likes of Henry Cejudo and Giga Chikadze, who had volunteered to step in.

Surging contender Giga Chikadze threw his name in the hat for the next title shot. Although he didn’t get it, he can use White’s comments as motivation to beat ‘The Boston Finisher’ Calvin Kattar. In the interview, White said, “Giga wins, Giga’s gonna get his chance.”
The Georgian mixed martial artist, 7-0 in the UFC, is already on the cusp of a world title fight. Even if he wins this Saturday, he will need to hope that Max Holloway remains out of the title picture as ‘Blessed‘, purely on his resume, would get a title shot whenever he returns.
