The headliner for UFC 267 will witness a clash between light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and veteran contender Glover Teixeira. The bout is a veteran’s classic in every sense of the word, as both men have a combined age of 79. They stand second only to Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson in terms of having the highest combined age in a UFC fight.
Fans have become endeared to both men who have been able to mount resurgences late into their MMA career. At one point, it seemed as though Jan Blachowicz would remain a fringe contender, however, he’s managed to re-route his career. As for Glover Teixeira, he has finally got another crack at UFC gold for the first time since facing Jon Jones in 2014.

The Polish champions’ resume gets better with time as he’s had a tough road up the mountain. He’s defeated the likes of Thiago Santos, Anthony Smith, Corey Anderson, and Dominick Reyes in order to be crowned the best light heavyweight fighter. Additionally, he became the first man to hand Israel Adesanya a loss in pro-MMA. This occurred when he defended his belt for the first time at UFC 259.
Jan Blachowicz uses thunderous body kicks and a fundamentally sound striking arsenal to keep his opponent at bay. Not to mention, his takedown game is well-rounded, and he’s capable of mounting pressure off his back.

Glover Teixeira is the number one ranked 205-pound fighter in the world and is currently on a five-fight win streak. He has faced the who’s-who at light heavyweight for nearly two decades and was on a 20-fight win streak at one point. The days of Teixeira being known only as a sparring partner to Chuck Liddell are long since in the rear-view mirror. He now has UFC gold on his mind.
Teixeira’s ground game has been extremely imposing as of late and he’s a tyrant once he secures top position. Additionally, his durability allows him to enter into range and post up his opponent against the cage. However, Blachowicz has shown himself to have tremendous knockout power and Teixeira would be well advised to ground the Polish fighter.
