UFC 267: Alexander Volkov vs Marcin Tybura

‘Drago’ was on a tear after he put forth an absolute beat down of Alistair Overeem to prove he belongs at the top. However, when he faced current interim title champion, Ciryl Gane, things didn’t end very well for the Russian. He lost a rather lopsided unanimous decision to ‘Bon Gamin’ and has dropped down to facing another surging contender.

Alexander Volkov carrier tremendous power into the early going of a fight and can land heavy shots off the rip. His advantage in the height and reach category allows him to stick behind a jab and advance forward.

Marcin Tybura has had a career resurgence and is looking like much more than just a fringe contender. After having a rather patchy start to his UFC career, the 22-6 fighter has managed to turn things around hugely. He is currently on a five-fight win streak and has finished his last two opponents via TKO.

Tybura will likely have a hard time against the imposing stature of Alexander Volkov especially since ‘Drago’ has started using his reach well. However, the Polish heavyweight would be well advised to chop away at Volkov’s outside leg to set a pace. Not to mention, Volkov’s plotting stance can provide an opening to land some heavy overhands to seal the win.

Prediction: Alexander Volkov to claim a split decision victory
