UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis once again captured the attention of UFC fans during media day at UFC 264. ‘The Black Beast’ is known for giving some iconic interviews and fans and journalists can’t wait to hear him sound off. Lewis has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced that he would be fighting Ciryl Gane for the interim title next.
Lewis returns home to Houston and fans are already flooding in their predictions for UFC 265: Lewis vs Gane. Chiefly, media members present at UFC 264 asked UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, to predict the outcome of the aforementioned scrap. True to form, Lewis stole the show by unbuttoning his shirt near the media table, jokingly attempting to intimidate Sterling.

Aljamain Sterling didn’t seem to notice Lewis in the corner, however, attentive media members caught the hilarious occurrence. Furthermore, when Lewis came up to speak, he commented on the incident and said “Oh, I was getting ready to smack him back of the head, he a little guy”.
It’s precisely for such reasons that the MMA world can’t get enough of Derrick Lewis.

Derrick Lewis: Going for gold

‘The Black Beast’ was considered to be a fringe contender early on in his career. However, with the passage of time, he’s become one of the most dangerous fighters on the roster, period. He holds the record for most heavyweight knockouts, a feat that is nothing short of brilliant.
Lewis has an opportunity to break into mainstream stardom if he manages to secure a win over Francis Ngannou. First, he will have to get through Ciryl Gane who is sure to pose a technical battle that will be hard to solve. ‘Bon Gamin’ is undefeated in the UFC and is on a roll as far as the evolution of his skill set is concerned.

If Derrick Lewis blows the doors of Gane when they meet in August, there’s no saying how high his ceiling can be. With a gold UFC belt over his shoulder, it will be hard to deny his legacy as an all-time great in the big man weight class.
