UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko spoke out on ESPN MMA and previewed her upcoming title defense at UFC 261. ‘The Bullet’ will take on former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade, who is looking to become a dual weight champion. While talking about her own bout, Valentina Shevchenko also did a deep dive into another title fight that will take place on the same card.
Zhang Weili will defend her undisputed title against the former divisional champion Rose Namajunas. Fans have earmarked this fight as possibly being the most technical title fight on a three-title fight card. Both women have had several marquee performances throughout their careers and are expected to deliver under the bright lights at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

“It’s like people asking me and I’m sharing my opinion [on Zhang Weili]. I saw her fight with Joanna, and Joanna was really better in there. Knowing Rose, she’s my friend and if she’s going to be in the same physical condition, mental condition what I know her, she has all chances to win [against] Weili. It’s nothing personal, I just like saying my opinion.”
Although Valentina Shevchenko’s comments don’t lend themselves to be particularly disparaging, she’s certainly doubling down. The seeds of a potential match-up between Shevchenko and Weili could very well be brewing if they win their fights. It’s a contest that would garner plenty of fan attention as they are both elites in their respective weight classes.
