Former One Championship welterweight champion and UFC fighter, Ben Askren, trolled Israel Adesanya after his loss against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259.

Like many other critics and fans, ‘Funky’ thought ‘The Last Stylebender’ would get that win, but Blachowicz weathered the early storm to take away the fight from him in the championship rounds.

“I really thought Izzy was gonna beat Jan easy! Maybe Costa was drunk,” Askren tweeted. He was referring to the recent conversation around Izzy’s fight against Paulo Costa.

Ben Askren will face YouTube celebrity Jake Paul in a boxing match

Askren was known for his wrestling prowess in the MMA world, and hence his boxing fight against the controversial Jake Paul turned a lot of heads. A lot of the fans and pundits believe that a win for ‘The Problem Child’ will tarnish the respect that people have for MMA fighters.

However, Askren is training hard and has uploaded some footage of his workouts on Twitter. Paul is a mildly talented boxer, but with Askren’s training, the latter should come in as the favorite in the fight.

He had a wonderful MMA career and was the ONE Championship welterweight champion. The UFC signed him in a trade that took the former UFC flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson, to ONE Championship.

Askren won his first fight in the UFC in a controversial manner when he beat Robbie Lawler via a choke. The referee Herb Dean stopped the fight, but ‘Ruthless’ instantly stood up to show that he was fine.

He retired in 2019 after two successive losses, including a defeat against Jorge Masvidal, which was the fastest knockout in UFC history. Ever since then, he has been focusing on his podcasts.

Given the timing and accuracy of Askren’s tweet, it’s clear that he hasn’t lost a step in taking a shot at fighters, and this will help him a lot against Paul as their fight date draws closer.
