Nurmagomedov has had a tough time cutting weight in the past. However, he has always made weight since becoming the champion. Ahead of this weekend’s fight, the question on everyone’s mind was will ‘The Eagle’ be able to make weight. There is always a chance that things could go wrong, even more so now during a global pandemic.
Michael Chandler was flown into Fight Island for that very reason. The UFC selected ‘Iron’ as a stand-in, in case either fighter could not make it to the Flash Forum. So there is still a chance that fans may see Chandler compete, but as of now, the official main event is on.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was one of the first fighters out to weigh in. The benefit of weighing in early is that not only does it give the fighter a chance to hydrate early, but in case the fighter misses weight, he can still go back and re-attempt to make the limit.
‘The Eagle’ walked to the scale seemingly a bit off-balance. He showed the toll a weight cut takes on the fighter. Nurmagomedov would require a towel to ensure he has every bit of the 155-pound weight limit to use.

The other half of the main event, Justin Gaethje, stepped onto the scales later on in the stipulated time limit. ‘The Highlight’ seemed to have had a much easier weight cut than his opponent and weighed in at championship weight as well.
