Jorge Masvidal has accepted the UFC 251 Welterweight title fight and saved the PPV’s main event. He stepped in at just above a week’s notice to replace Gilbert Burns. The Brazilian did not get clearance to board the plane after a positive coronavirus test. Now, as ‘Gamebred’ will be part of a championship fight he needs the scale to show 170 on Friday night to have a chance at claiming the belt.
In a chat on ESPN First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Dominique Foxworth, Masvidal spoke about the UFC pay debate. Furthermore, he revealed his plans for Kamaru Usman at Fight Island. Finally, he reiterated the fact that he has to undergo a monstrous weight cut by Friday.

Jorge Masvidal reveals exactly how many pounds he has to cut
‘Gamebred’ said, “Yea I got 20 pounds to go. I’m taking the fight on 6 days notice.”
He opines that this is not something he is unfamiliar with as a fighter. As per Masvidal, being a fighter means he has to compete and bring back the gold. However, the 20 pounds flummoxed Smith who clarified with the Welterweight fighter if he was talking about gaining or losing the pounds. Masvidal said, “Losing, losing. So when we finally made the deal…..”
Here, Smith was shocked as he exclaimed, “You gotta lose 20 pounds in 6 days?” Masvidal responded, “Yes sir when they made the fight official I was a 191 pounds. So Friday, I gotta lose that weight.”
On hearing this, Smith had a stunned look on his face whilst Foxworth had an expression that felt like awe. The former quizzed the BMF champ if he is worried about making such an alarming weight drop in such little time.
