UFC fighter Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone gives his prediction on the main event of UFC 249–Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje.

Originally, UFC 249 was supposed to take place on April 18. But the interference from top Disney and ESPN officials prevented it from materializing. Consequently, the event shifted to May 9. The betting odds favor Tony to win the match. However, when you have a power puncher like Gaethje, it can be tough to choose. So how do you predict a fight that can go either way?

‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has fought both Gaethje as well as Ferguson. In his fight against Ferguson, his eye got shut , and the doctor was forced to call it off after the end of round 2. On the other hand, Cerrone didn’t even make it out of the first round against ‘The Highlight‘. Gaethje viciously stopped him in just 4:18 minutes.

In an interview with Brett Okamoto of ESPN, Cerrone expressed his sympathy for Tony. Despite being on a 12 fight win streak, ‘The Boogeyman’ has not fought for an undisputed title. It will be the second time he is fighting for an interim strap.

“Man, can Tony catch a f****** break? Poor guy! Is he gonna be the first person in history to hold the interim title twice?” Cowboy asked Okamoto.

Cerrone was in disbelief that Tony made weight for a canceled event. As far as Tony’s skills are concerned, Cerrone believes that he is not special. Yet, he acknowledged Tony’s high pressure and volume striking.

“We’ll see what Justin can do with him. I bet Justin is gonna kick the sh*t out of him. We’ll see.”
