The presence of longtime commentator, Joe Rogan at UFC 249 is still uncertain. However, it seems like play-by-play man Jon Anik has confirmed his presence at the pay-per-view event.

UFC 249 will be taking place on the 18th of April. Initially, the event was looking at Brooklyn as the location. However, the Coronavirus pandemic has sent the UFC scrambling in search of a new location.

“My concern runs beyond the family. I think when I come home I’ll probably quarantine away from my family, unfortunately. And say happy birthday to my daughter a few days later through glass or something”- Jon Anik

Anik is concerned about tracking the virus back to his wife and children. However, it seems like the man does not have a lot of say in the matter. The risk is something that Jon Anik is willing to take as long as the safety provisions are up to the mark.

“I have major concerns going through with the whole thing. My wife hasn’t looked me in the eyes in 48 hours, she wants to kill me. There’s a lot of layers to it. Essentially, we’re in the business of putting on live events every week for the rest of the year. If we can get April 18 off without a hitch, we’re doing shows every weekend.”- Jon Anik told Sirius XM Fight Nation.

“Do I wish we were shutting it down though June 1st from a health and safety standpoint and a family standpoint, part of me does. But my boss has determined that the show must go on and if I’m deemed an essential part of that then that’s my decision and I guess I’m gonna have to live with it.”- Jon Anik

Jon Anik is Not the Only One Worried About the Risk of Infection

Both Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier share the same attitude when it comes to turning up for the event.

“We don’t know where it is. I’m trying to figure out what I’m doing if I’m going to it or not. I don’t know where it is. I don’t even know if it’s in America. Literally, as of right now, I don’t know sh*t. I have no information.”- Joe Rogan

“Unless you’re out there doing all kinds of random things, you’re pretty safe to call the fights. I don’t want to get on an airplane and go to an airport right now. But if it’s accessible, and I go there and get tested and get to call the fights and then go home, yeah, why not?”- Daniel Cormier

Seemingly travel is a big concern for almost every single participant in the event. It begs the question of whether this is the right time to organize something of this magnitude.
