UFC 249 is a few days away, and the company held its first-ever media call with fighters. Usually, fighters have a strategy to cut weight and then rehydrate themselves. Essentially Sports was all ears as Heavyweight fighter Francis Ngannou shared his strategy to stay safe and avoid testing ahead of the fight.

As per the UFC, Fighters will be tested every time they enter a room. ‘The Predator’ reveals that it involves a “thing” in the nose and he’s not too keen on it. Hence his strategy will be to stay in his room.

“Yesterday I went in my room and I’m just getting out of my room right now. If it wouldn’t be the media, I would still be in my room. Nothing has changed and I’m gonna stay in my room.”

He also said he’d prefer taking a punch.

“The thing in the nose. That was the second time that I did it. It’s too weird. I think I’d rather get punched then take that sh*t.”

One can’t fault him for saying this, as being a fighter, he will be more accustomed to taking punches. However, it seems like he will be doing it a 3rd-time post the UFC 249 media call.

The 2nd ranked Heavyweight fighter elected to remain coy about his strategy for Saturday night. Initially, he wanted the fight to be for the Interim Heavyweight Championship. This is because the division has been in limbo, with the title being only twice in the last 21 months.

‘The Predator’ was supposed to fight the same opponent twice before. First, they were to main event UFC Fight Night Columbus. Later the duo was the co-main event of UFC 249 at Tachi Palace Casino Resort. Now one hopes that nothing details this fight.

They will certainly support ‘the Predator’s strategy of not leaving his room and keep their fingers crossed that Jairzinho Rozenstruik does the same.

Can Francis Ngannou extend his win streak to 4 on Saturday night?
