UFC 249, finally a reality, features two of the most talented fighters that lightweight division has to offer in the world. Even though it is not the fight that we were expecting, it has the potential to become something even better. And Justin Gaethje has an unusual attitude going into the fight as he explains the same to Dan Hardy from BT Sport.

Ferguson was initially looking to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, stringent restrictions on travel to the United States forced the Dagestani fighter to pull out of the fight.

Gaethje stepping in at the last minute to replace the lightweight kingpin is not short of a miracle. This fight gives Tony Ferguson the opportunity to become the two-time interim titleholder when he takes on Gaethje.

However, the former World Series of Fighting 155-pound titleholder is rather confident about his chances against Ferguson. In addition, the amount of respect that Gaethje shows to Ferguson is virtually nonexistent at this level.

“I’ve been a fan of Tony for a long time. He loves when people call him crazy, it turns him on. But he’s a certain kind of crazy that you have to have to step in the octagon and be comfortable. I believe I’m just as crazy as him in that regard,” said Justin Gaethje with a tone of admiration in his voice.

The Highlight believes their matchup is the “textbook definition” of what an MMA fight should be. And in a certain sense, the 31-year-old is absolutely right. Carnage and some serious violence are what both the fighters bring to the table. Therefore, it does not get any better than this.

Justin Gaethje Looks Forward to Getting His Face Restructured

Gaethje, as he talks about his upcoming fight, makes a bizarre statement, something that no one has ever heard a fighter say.

“I’ll probably bleed. I hope he breaks my nose, I’ve been waiting for a long time for someone to break my nose, so I can get it fixed. It’s going to be fun,” said Gaethje as he looks forward to the fight.

With what Gaethje has to say it seems like a broken nose is not the biggest of his worries. However, it is exhilarating to know how far The Highlight is willing to go to bag a win.

Gaethje’s on a streak of 3 consecutive wins wrapping up all three fights in the first round itself. And if his previous brawls are any indication, he won’t be the only ones walking out of the octagon that night with scars

Do you think Gaethje has what it takes to best Ferguson?
