UFC 249’s official fight card is out. Dana White pulled off the seemingly impossible task of making this happen.

It’s a complete 12 fight card. And for the main event, we have Justin Gaethje stepping up to Tony Ferguson for the interim title. Khabib Nurmagomedov was forced to pull out of the fight due to the current travel bans in place. Khabib was unable to leave Russia and will hence not be a part of UFC 249. The Tony vs Khabib fight has now been canceled 5 times in total.

Justin Gaethje will headline this event instead. He is coming off an incredible win over Donald Cerrone. Gaethje though a last-minute fill-in, will prove to be a real challenge for Tony Ferguson. Tony Ferguson last fought at UFC 238 in June of 2019. He’s been looking forward to UFC 249 and a matchup against Khabib forever now. Though he isn’t getting his original fight, if there was one fight that could match the intensity of a Khabib vs Tony, it would be this one.

Stand out fights at UFC 249

Among the other fights on the card is Rose Namajunas vs Jessica Andrade 2, Uriah Hall vs Jacare Souza and Francis Ngnanou vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik. The full fight card has been made official just hours ago. It’s a power-packed line up we have for this April 18th.

Namajunas will take on Andrade for the second time. Rose lost to Andrade back at UFC 237 via knockout. This loss resulted in her losing her strawweight belt. She secured the title in a win over Joanna Jedrzejczyk and also successfully defended it against her.

But now the strawweight belt lies in the possession of Weili Zhang. Weili Zhang won the title off Jessica Andrade when she knocked her out in under a minute.

The other stand out fight is Jacare Souza vs Uriah Hall. The winner of this is most likely to enter the top 5 rankings of the middleweight division. Hall is on a two-fight winning streak and is coming in with huge momentum. While Souza is coming off a split decision loss to Jan Blachowicz at his light heavyweight debut.
