The UFC 248 headliners, Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero take on each other at the hallowed T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on the 7th of March. The fans and pundits of the sport call this bout a big showdown.

Fresh off of a marvelous season in 2019, Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya (18-0) looks to continue his dominance in the UFC. The first task of his 2020 season will be defending his Middleweight Title against Yoel “Soldier of God” Romero (13-4-0). The Champion certainly has a daunting task ahead of him.

Initially UFC President Dana White was not very keen about putting up Adesanya against Romero. The Brazilian fighter Paolo Costa was the initial choice. Although that was made impossible after he suffered an injury to his bicep. The injury reportedly put him out of commission for 9 months.

But to everyone’s surprise, Costa made his way back to health in just 3 months. White was prepared to wait for Costa to be fit enough to step into the octagon, but the 30-year-old Israel Adesanya was keen to fight Romero. White agreed soon enough.

“No one wants to fight Romero, Believe me, we make the phone calls, nobody wants to fight Yoel Romero. Israel wants to fight him. Israel feels that his legacy will not be complete if he doesn’t beat Yoel Romero. How do you not respect that?”- White in a press conference.

“I Can See The Finish Line”- Israel Adesanya

Adesanya decimated multiple fighters to get where he is today. He is extremely confident about coming out on top against the American Top Team fighter. Some might say that Romero is suffering from a slump, considering his back to back losses. But what must be kept in mind The Cuban powerhouse will surely put up a difficult fight for the title. Romero, a hard-hitting brawler relies on his brute force and athletic prowess. Adesanya on the other hand, a master of landing critical hits relies on his lethal accuracy and superior reach.
