Conor McGregor will face Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 at the welterweight division, inside T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. It will be an epic encounter between two of the best fighters in UFC.
In a recent interaction with Robin Black, former welterweight and middleweight champion, Georges St-Pierre breaks down Conor’s lethal left-hand. He also talks about McGregor’s fighting style, and a lot more.
“One of the biggest mistakes most fighters do, I did a lot, is when they re fighting and see an opportunity, they get excited. They are thinking too much about putting their fist into the opponent’s face. So, when they punch, (motions) see my leg is behind me.”

Georges St-Pierre revealed how McGregor generates power in his left hand. The same left hand which has knocked out almost 80% of his opponents inside the second round.
One thing Conor is very good at is bringing his leg with him. Of course with alignment and everything. Look at my legs, a lot of strength and a lot of power.
“Conor Mcgregor is known for his powerful left hand. Everybody knows that. Going towards this way, everybody knows that they put themselves in jeopardy. So they all want to go towards the good side Conor knows it. So when they try that, he is stepping first, and he is coming over to knock. “
Conor and his lethal left hand

“It’s not a straight left hand, it’s a left hand that comes with the elbow up a little bit. Like a pitch in baseball, very powerful.”
St-Pierre was also asked about fighting Conor McGregor, and what would be his fight plan if he ever comes face to face with him inside the octagon.
“Conor is known as a counterpuncher with a very powerful left hand. So how I see the fight is, you don’t want to go first. I go first, and he counters. I say we go third. So I want to fake and make him commit. So fake, make him commit, and then after I can jump and use my attack.”
St-Pierre had a very different strategy, something that can be very effective against the Notorious. Pierre revealed that he would try not to go with punches initially in the fight. However, he admitted to going with the third strike approach, where he fakes his first punch to lure McGregor to come to him.
St-Pierre also appreciated Conor’s fight IQ and called him a very skillful fighter. He credited him with generating enough power from his left hand. He added,
“He is a very smart fighter. He has got a very high fight IQ.”
