After 13 fight win streak in the featherweight division, The pride of Hawaii Max Holloway went up to lightweight division to fight Dustin Poirier for the Interim Lightweight Championship. But after the loss to Dustin in a hard-fought battle, Max Holloway looks to defend his featherweight crown against the former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. This championship bout has a lot on the stake considering the two-division champion Henry Cejudo has already called out Frankie Edgar and would be aiming for the third belt in UFC if Edgar manages to win on 27th July on UFC 240 PPV.
At this moment there is no denying the fact that Max Holloway is the best featherweight to ever enter into the UFC octagon. He has two knockout victories against the former champion Jose Aldo and wins against all the top contenders in featherweight division such as Jeremy Stephens, former champion Anthony Pettis, and once called the future of Featherweight division Brian Ortega to solidify his place as the king of his division. But he has never faced Frankie Edgar before. These two fighters were scheduled to fight twice in the past but unfortunate injuries prevented this much-anticipated clash.
Now coming to the challenger for the 145 division gold many UFC fans were expecting Alexander Volkanovski to fight for the belt after his emphatic victories against Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes. But with a resume as coveted as Frankie’s, it’s hard to deny the former lightweight champion a title shot.
