The third time’s the charm! That’s what people say sometimes. But will that be the case for Dustin Poirier on June 1? Apparently, UFC 302 will be ‘The Diamond’s final attempt to go for the undisputed champion status against Islam Makhachev because, just a few days after the title fight announcement, the 35-year-old claimed to believe that he may never get a chance to fight for the title once again.
“I know this is my shot, I won’t get another one,” Dustin Poirier told FOX recently. In another interview with Ariel Helwani, ‘The Diamond’ also claimed that the fight against Islam Makhachev could very well be his “last shot” at immortalizing himself in the history books of the lightweight division. ” I’m coming in there to hurt him. This is my last shot. Mom’s spaghetti. Let’s go,” Poirier stated on ‘The MMA Hour’.
