After more than two decades at the helm, Dana White, the long-time president of the UFC, has encountered all types of personalities leading the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization. However, for White, it ultimately boils down to business. The relationship he has with fighters is based on how easy or difficult they are to work with in the realm of business.
Recently, the UFC boss opened up about his rivalry with former UFC champion Tito Ortiz, whom he described as the ‘worst’ at handling business dealings. In fact, White revealed one of Ortiz‘s worst traits of always trying to mess up the agreed-upon deal at the very last moment, often causing chaos and problems. It’s this type of behavior that has resulted in White‘s decision to maintain no relationship with Ortiz.

During a recent interview, UFC President Dana White spoke candidly about his experiences dealing with ‘bad guys’ who have done ‘dirty sh*t’ when it comes to money. When asked to name a particular individual, the 53-year-old didn’t hesitate to call out former UFC champion Tito Ortiz. “Tito Ortiz was the worst with that. He was the worst.”, said White.
White emphasized that what troubles him the most was that Ortiz pulled these antics on him and the company when the UFC was at its “most vulnerable” stage.
The UFC president continued, “You have a deal with him. You start going and he’d call you three days before the fight saying, ‘I want more money’… Yeah, that isn’t how it works.”
He further added, “Tito did some bad sh*t in his day. That’s why he and I, you know, had the relationship we had. And you know, that’s why I don’t have a relationship with him today.”
Talking about how this habit of Ortiz affected the company, White said, “At the time, when the company was the most vulnerable, Tito Ortiz was the worst to deal with.”
Moreover, their rivalry went beyond the octagon when the two got into a physical altercation mid-air; crossing all limits of professional behavior.

Dana White recounted a time when he, the Fertitta brothers, Tito Ortiz, and their matchmaker Joe Silva were on a private plane headed to Japan. The UFC president then discussed how he and Ortiz got into an altercation when the latter put him in a neck crank. The UFC boss stated, “I was tapping, and he didn’t stop… You can seriously hurt somebody in a neck crank, especially as big and strong as Tito is.”
White continued, “So I just started blasting him in the ribs, started punching him in the ribs. And when he let go, I just jumped up, and it was just a full-blown fistfight in the plane.”

Both Tito Ortiz and Dana White have had their differences, which, to date, seem to be the same way. And given that the two got into a physical altercation mid-air, that certainly signifies the extent of their rivalry.
