The entire country of England is devastated after coming so close to winning their first trophy in over 50 years. However, the future is bright for this group of young players, and the official Instagram account of Team England shared their views after the loss.
“Football. It’s not just about the trophies, and how we’re still waiting. It’s not about the goals we scored or the ones we didn’t. It’s about the journeys we’ve taken, from our roots to the top. It’s the friends we’ve made, the people we represent and standing alongside them when times become hard. It’s being together. Football is family. It’s community. It’s unity. It’s home,” the official account of team England said in the image of the post.

The caption was another message as they claimed, “We made some history, but couldn’t achieve the one thing we’re all dreaming of. But football is about more than trophies, and we’ve seen that all summer. Coming home? Perhaps it was here all along.”
England and Italy were undoubtedly the two best teams in the competition as they battled it out for the title for 120 minutes and the subsequent penalty shootout.
However, Italy came out on top as the Italian Goalkeeper, Gigi Donnarumma made two vital saves from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka after Manchester United star Marcus Rashford missed his penalty kick.
He was also awarded the player of the tournament award as his saves were vital in helping Italy beat Spain in the semi-finals. He was one of the three Italy players who made the team of the tournament alongside Juventus stars Federico Chiesa and Giorgio Chiellini.
