The best XI from this week’s Champions League games. With Arsenal’s highly convincing 4-1 win over Galatasaray among the most impressive performances in the Champions League this week, it is expected to see a number of Gunners players in this week’s best XI, with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Roma stars also featuring.

GK: Tomas Vaclik (FC Basel)

A superb performance was given from the FC Basel goalkeeper to help the Swiss side to a surprise 1-0 win over Liverpool. With the visitors having five shots on target, Vaclik’s display was pivotal in denying the opposition and helping his team to a clean sheet.

RB: Lukasz Piszczek (Borussia Dortmund)

A superb attacking display from the Polish right-back, who got assistance as Dortmund eased to a 3-0 away win over Belgian side Anderlecht.

LB: Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal)

A player in fine form who is attracting talk of an England recall after his superb performance in his side’s comfortable 4-1 win over Galatasaray.

CB: Fabian Schar (FC Basel)

Another FC Basel player deserving of credit, is young, centre-back Fabian Schar, who showed why so many top clubs are after him after a superb defensive display to keep Liverpool at bay.

CB: Sokratis (Borussia Dortmund)

Another strong defensive performer for Borussia Dortmund, Greek international Sokratis was arguably the man of the match as Jurgen Klopp’s men enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Anderlecht.

CM: Nemanja Matic (Chelsea)

A solid midfield display from Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic, who also headed home  the winning goal for the Blues in a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Sporting Lisbon.

CM: Thiago Motta (Paris Saint-Germain)

A superb defensive midfield display from Thiago Motta against his old side Barcelona, helping Paris Saint-Germain to a memorable 3-2 victory over the Catalan giants.

RM: Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

With a goal and an assist, Alexis Sanchez was in sparkling form for Arsenal as they swept aside Galatasaray 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium, with his strike to make it 3-0 one of the best on the night.

LM: Arda Turan (Atletico Madrid)

A superb player who struck a crucially important winning goal for Atletico Madrid as they got the better of Juventus.

CF: Francesco Totti (AS Roma)

A classy display from the Italian veteran, who got forward to score a delightful equalising goal to earn a big point for Roma away to Manchester City.

ST: Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)

Undoubtedly the star of the week, Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck was superb upfront for the Gunners as he netted a well-taken hat-trick with three fine goals against Galatasaray.
