With the inception of AEW, we believed the rating war would return, and so they did. AEW Dynamite went head to head with NXT. After more than a year of competing head to head for viewers, NXT shifted to Tuesday nights. To compile the results of the war would be rather easy, as apart from a handful of instances, NXT could never beat AEW Dynamite. Former NXT upstart Tyler Rust seems like a casualty of this war.
AEW unofficially won the Wednesday day night war. Tyler Rust, who was a part of the Diamond Mine faction in NXT recent revealed his thoughts about how the ‘competition’ might or might not have affected the recent changes. The insiders speculate WWE is looking for bigger and younger guys now. Many believe that Vince has given orders to rebrand the show. Industry insiders also feel the recent cuts were also a step in that direction.

Tyler Rust on WWE NXT’s new direction
Tyler Rust was part of Diamond Mine, a group that was marketed well before their debut. While there is news of a power struggle between upper management in WWE. Rust said he never felt tensed or as if he was walking on eggshells during his time with the company. He also revealed that he felt AEW is good competition in the industry and helps everyone grow. He also said they never were told that the moving of nights was because of fewer ratings. Tyler stated he is happy for his friends who have got jobs there.
A new era for NXT

If reports are true, the changes are coming soon. Uncertainty looms large as of now, however, Tyler stated, “This is amazing. This is everything that we want to invest in, how much they were proud of all the hard work we were doing there at the Performance Center, and they see the way we train, the way that we work.”

“They see how hard we really, really work on this product, and it was always such positive feedback from everybody upstairs, honestly.” It seems like we will have to wait and observe how everything unfolds as of now for the third brand of WWE.
