India registered a convincing victory over Bangladesh on Sunday in the maiden pink-ball, day-night Test in Kolkata. The hosts dominated the visitors from the beginning at the historic Eden Garden where they won with an innings and 46-runs. Alongside this win, one more thing has come in the limelight and that was from the commentary box – an on-air spat between Sanjay Manjrekar and Harsha Bhogle.
During the commentary, the veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle suggested that they need to have a proper discussion after the pink-ball Test. He also said on-air that the feedback of the players’ is needed to be taken into account, and also if they had faced any problems during the game regarding the ball?s visibility.
Sanjay Manjrekar, who made his Test debut against the West Indies in 1987, and played 37 matches in his career, did not take the comment of Harsha Bhogle to happily. He took a jibe, citing, ?You need to ask perhaps, for us, those who have played the game, we have a fair idea of what?s happening out there,? referring to his own work on the cricketing field.

However, Bhogle later made his point by saying, ”The reason I say the players should be asked about the pink ball is, when you have played the game, you get to know about the conditions but that cannot be a limitation to learning. It has to be an ‘aid’ to learning.”
Although the Test ended with a happy note for India, Twitterati didn?t want to let go of this matter on Sunday. Soon an online rant against Sanjay Manjrekar took over, with the hashtag #Manjrekar trending through the evening and People demanded an apology from him as well to talk rudely with Harsha Bhogle on-air.
However, this was not the first time, he commented this rude for someone. Earlier he took a jibe on India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. ?I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,? Manjrekar was quoted as saying by IANS.
However, Jadeja replied in no time.??Still i have played twice the number of matches you have played and i m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved.i have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea.@sanjaymanjrekar? Ravindra Jadeja tweeted.
Here is how Twitterati reacted:

@sanjaymanjrekar I think that was a very cheap shot saying to @bhogleharsha “For those of us who played the game”

This is boorish and absolutely unnecessary from @sanjaymanjrekar. Pity. What does it cost to be civil to a fellow commentator who was asking a very valid question? "You need to ask." Really. https://t.co/M7uhsyFpgD

This is unnecessarily condescending and disappointing coming from someone such as @sanjaymanjrekar who I have respect and affection for. Of course playing the game at the highest level is great. But, as @bhogleharsha says, no harm at all in asking those involved in THIS game. https://t.co/MTvIVLzcK0

People who are supporting Sanjay on his controversial argument, should consider below point:
Going by same logic, Bogle is having better analytical mind as he has cracked CAT and done his MBA from IIM Ahmadabad.#SanjayManjrekar #INDvBAN

Not a good gesture @sanjaymanjrekar thought you were being unfairly treated in some issues in past but the one with @bhogleharsha was unnecessary. The talks could have been kept more objective If somebody taunts you for not having played T20s how will you feel #SanjayManjrekar

Not only should the experts do a "post mortem" of how the #PinkBall fared, but they should also do a post mortem of Manjrekar's INSUFFERABLE commentary in the past few years. It's high time! #INDvBAN

Sanjay Manjrekar!
Never fails to keep disappointing in and around the commentary box!
Arrogant. Annoying.

I think the next item on Dada's To-Do list should be de-list Sanjay Manjrekar. Adds absolutely no value, raging sycophant, makes watching Cricket a painful experience, and is an around nuisance. We deserve better

Dear @StarSportsIndia team, how much money will it cost the cricket fans to get @sanjaymanjrekar out of commentary box? Please let us know, we will crowdfund it within hours, bcoz you are simply ruining the cricket for us. His today’s comments on Harsha were deplorable. #INDvsBAN

Sanjay Manjrekar was a complete ass with you in the commentary box today. You made a perfectly valid point. He had no business being so condescending.

Hey Sanjay Manjrekar @sanjaymanjrekar while you were sitting on your high horse and arguing like a prick about there being no visibility issue in a condescending tone to @bhogleharsha, Mayank Agarwal just said on TV that there are issues in visibility (1). #INDvBAN
