India completed their 3-0 whitewash of New Zealand whitewash today on Day 4, winning the third and final Test Match as Ravichandran Ashwin once again created havoc.
India had set a target of 475 runs for New Zealand. They started aggressively as Latham hit Shami for a six in the third ball of the first Over. Then Umesh picked him for LBW in the very next over. Kiwi Skipper Williamson and opener Guptilll stood in the middle till tea. Post Tea It was the Ashwin show. He rocked them and picked up his 21st five-wicket haul. He took seven wickets for 59 runs in the 2nd Innings which is his career best figures. He picked up his 7th ten wicket haul in the match and finished with 13 wickets for 140 runs, also his career best. At the start of the day, India lost Murli Vijay early but then Gautam Gambhir, the comeback man who injured his shoulder twice, scored a quickfire fifty. Pujara too scored an important century which was his 8th Test Hundred. It helped in taking India’s lead past 400.
Twitter reacted to India’s whitewash of New Zealand and praised R Ashwin heavily.

India plays a test match, Ashwin gets five wickets. That's pretty much the current scenario. 👏👏👏👏

When a team doesn't last 40 overs there are serious problems. NZ was poor. @ashwinravi99 is at his best. The result was a given.
