Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel led a lights to flag victory at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. Behind him were Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. Vettel remained largely untroubled for the entire race but Bottas began to fall into Max’s clutches by the end of the race.
Meanwhile, for 4th and 5th, Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton were locked in their own duel. Raikkonen was having his own race in 6th ahead of the rest of the pack. At the start of the race, everyone got through the first corner unscathed, then came the chaos.
Brendon Hartley tried a move round the outside of Lance Stroll but was squeezed into the wall. Stroll himself had lost control of his Williams and both drivers were out of the race.

After the safety car, things settled down for a bit, with the only other casualty being Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard, racing in his 300th GP was forced to retire with a mechanical issue.
There were issues in the end as well when the chequered flag was flown before the actual ending of the race. The flag is meant to mark the end of the race and instead of lap 70, it was flown at lap 69 due to a miscommunication caused by the FIA. The flag was waved by model Winnie Harlow, who was a Mercedes guest. As a part of the regulations, the standings till lap 68 were considered, which caused no major shake up apart from the fastest lap of the race title being given to Max Verstappen instead of Daniel Ricciardo.
Other than that, there was nothing particularly exciting. There were barely any overtakes in a circuit that has largely hosted exciting races.
The fans on Twitter weren’t too happy with the snooze fest the race was. Here are some of the best tweets that summed up the Canadian Grand Prix:
Don't blame Winnie Harlow for the #CanadianGP ending early after the chequered flag was unfurled prematurely…
But Daniel Ricciardo wasn't at all amused at being robbed of the race's fastest lap!https://t.co/VD6zDxlxe6 #SkyF1 pic.twitter.com/vGcaxFUwfv

You let Hamiltons friend wave the flag and she fucks it up , sorry but celebs for me have no place in @f1 , it annoys me to see them all get special privileges when real fans work hard to just get a seat in the crowd #CanadianGP
— SARAH PHELAN (@sarahhph) June 10, 2018
so the model on the grid who admitted she had no interest in F1 then goes on to wave the chequered flag a lap early, can we just kick all the celebs out please? #F1 #CanadianGP pic.twitter.com/lET9a0VZqU

The festivities of the 2018 edition of the Formula 1 Grand Prix were great success!
The star of this year was the one that sparked the craze for the Formula in Quebec, Gilles Villeneuve (1950-1982)
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel won Sunday's race.

Re-watching the video again, if you see @BrendonHartley's onboard – as and when he made contact, his helmet banged against the Halo and immediately his hands went up on left side. Must have been been quite the impact. One for researchers. #F1 #CanadianGP | @ToroRosso @MsportExtra https://t.co/CdbVSYnSO8

So apparently Brendon Hartley hit his head (helmet) against the halo and as a result had to go to hospital for a check.

So much for the FIA 'Risk Assessments'. IMO that was inevitable in a 'high inertia' car Impact, an area I certainly had my doubts wrt Integrity and proximity to driver helmet.🤔😞👌
You can Only make his restraint harness so Tight, Not Over-Tight.👎🏻— Stephen Houghton (@SanGrownUn1) June 10, 2018
