Quinton de Kock Biography

Quinton de Kock is a highly rated South African player who has worked his way into the main squad. He has achieved some remarkable feats at a young age, having debuted in 2012 at the age of 20. It is clear that Quinton de Kock is a star for the future. He has wowed with the willow and is an exceptional wicketkeeper as well.

He burst onto the scene with the South Africa U-19 side. During the 2012 U-19 World Cup, he was the Proteas' highest run-scorer. It wasn't long before Quintn de Kock was included in the national team. The move was perfectly timed as star player AB de Villiers needed a break.

A year after his debut, his fame only grew as he scored three successive ODI centuries against India. However, disaster struck as an ankle injury nearly put paid to his 2015 ODI World Cup chances. Luckily, Quinton de Kock was able to recover.

Unfortunately, his form never got the memo and he endured a miserable tournament. As a result, he was shuttled in and out of the squad for the remainder of the year.

In 2016, Quinton de Kock set a record for being the fifth South African to score five fifty-plus scores in a row.

IPL Career

With regard to the IPL, Quinton de Kock made a name for himself in the now defunct Champions League T20. Now, in IPL 2019, he became the first traded player, switching from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Mumbai Indians.

Quinton de Kock kick-started his IPL career with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013. But like most rookie players, he too was stuck in the limited chances zone. The Sunrisers evidently decided that they saw enough and sent him packing. That was when the Delhi Daredevils fished him out and he thrived after a shaky start. In IPL 2016, Quinton de Kock finished as Delhi's top run-getter.

Sadly, injury woes struck again, this time a finger injury, forcing him to miss the entire 2017 season. In 2018, he changed sides, to the RCB team in 2018. After getting a good number of chances, Quinton de Kock was assigned the 'important role' of seat-warmer.
