Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton took his 5th pole position at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. He even bagged pole by eight-tenths from Sebastian Vettel. However, the big story of the day was the Racing Point Force India duo. Historically speaking, Force India generally perform well at Spa. Especially after Giancarlo Fisichella’s shock pole back in 2009.
Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez locked out the 2nd row in a surprise turn of events. This is certainly a welcome result given all that has transpired in the past week. The team has been through a lot, from going into administration to being rescued. From a name-change to getting their points taken away, the team has seen it all. So, a result like this is an encouraging sign.
Here is how Twitter reacted to qualifying at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

No matter what the name on the door has been, @circuitspa has always been a special track for Team Silverstone (+ Brackley). Always. #FeelTheForce #PinkPanthers #F1 #BelgianGP

Would be such a shame to see Ocon without a racing seat next season. #BelgianGP

Can't wait till Ocon gets a better car so he can seriously fight for the championship! He really deserves a seat next year! #BelgianGP

That was all good clean fun wasn't it? A programming note for you – Kimi Raikkonen's most recent win for Ferrari at the 2009 #BelgianGP came from 6th on the grid, the same position in which he has qualified today

This too, hadn't even thought of that. It's inconsistent and illogical. #F1 #BelgianGP #ForceIndia #RacingPointForceIndia https://t.co/p7EeeHBzib

Anyway it's already over. @ScuderiaFerrari forgot how to race. They forget to fuel a car I mean that is ridiculous ! They only have 1 driver and they need 2 ! I hope HAM and Mercedes win everything because Ferrari is dumb at the biggest level ! #BelgianGP
