Novak Djokovic advanced to the next round of the 2018 French Open by defeating Fernando Verdasco. It was a bit of a heated affair as, early in the second set, Verdasco seemed a bit animated about something. Djokovic won the point, breaking the Spaniard’s serve in the process, but Verdasco seemed upset about something.
Never the less, Djokovic cleaned out the rest of the match to take a straight sets victory. The Serbian former world number 1 needed 2 hours and 25 minutes to dispatch Verdasco. Later, it transpired that Verdasco was suffering from heavy blistering and that played into Novak’s hands.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match.

Djokovic and Verdasco aren't happy about the court.
Nadal said the same earlier this week.

Pity the court clock is malfunctioning. It says Djokovic and Verdasco are at 4-2 and yet 48 minutes have elapsed…oh, wait

#20 Novak Djokovic is into the French Open quarterfinals for the ninth straight year, beating Fernando Verdasco 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
Awaits winner of Goffin-Cecchinato.
Feels weird for a 12-time Slam champ to be under the radar, huh? #RG18

Wilander: “If Novak beats Verdasco then you have to start talking about Djokovic because he’s beaten Nadal enough times and has gone to enough Grand Slam finals. The second week of Grand Slams scare him less than perhaps losing in the early rounds against lower-ranked players." pic.twitter.com/Pb7CIT4M64

I'm not translating what Verdasco just said.
Translated literally might shock people.

Everybody loves to pile on Monfils, and in the process Verdasco and Berdych especially get the free pass for not winning nearly enough.

Idemooo…….Novak!!! Into the last 8💪Always been a big Verdasco fan & after such a brilliant performance & win against Grigor it was a shame to see him error/injury stricken today. Novak gets the job done in straight sets, only 1 set dropped so far #NoleFam #Idemo #RG18 pic.twitter.com/Kb3gjHE75A

Verdasco picked up a stonking big blister at 5-4 down in the second set against serve. Lost the set… was only one way after that.

Djokovic vs. Verdasco. What a match.
Verdasco displayed immense character.
A lesser player would have tanked the match.

"Zverev produced some stunning tennis in the closing stages of a dramatic fourth-round victory…:
"Djokovic, seeded 20…. mediocre form, was never in trouble against an erratic Verdasco, who needed treatment for a badly blistered left foot "

With the pace of this match between Djokovic and Verdasco it might well be the last match the tournament, not just the day. #AccentRG

Good grief. Djokovic and Verdasco have played 28 minutes and are still in the third game of their match. They may need a week to finish this one. #RG18
