World Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya defended his title spectacularly against Paulo Costa at UFC 253. ‘The Last Stylebender’ proved his haters wrong and showed the world that he was a force to be reckoned with. Interestingly enough, there was also a certain achievement that he managed which may have gone unnoticed.
For years, the dreaded ‘EA Cover’ curse has worried fans and athletes alike. FIFA, Madden, and UFC have all seen their fair share of victims of this curse and there was just no stopping it. But it seems Israel Adesanya has managed to break the deadlock as he has beaten the curse.
Take a look at his tweet where he specifically mentions his achievement.

To give more context to this, Jorge Masvidal and Israel Adesanya were the cover stars for the recently released UFC 4 game. The curse claimed Masvidal as a victim as he lost to Kamaru Usman at UFC 251. Even though fans might argue that the reason he lost was because he had a mere 6-day prep time, blaming the curse is much easier. But Adesanya was not falling victim to any curse as he cruised to victory against Costa at UFC 253.

This is a brilliant achievement by the New Zealander, who is still undefeated with a 20-0 record. With the ‘EA Cover’ curse broken, it’ll be interesting to see how he does against Jon Jones if they do indeed clash in the future. Adesanya has expressed his willingness to take on the light-heavyweight fighter and has received a ferocious response from Jones. No matter what happens, the ‘Stylebender’ has a long way to go, and he is not stopping till he achieves everything in his sight.
