Twitch Streamer Tfue Summit1g and More React to Amazing Justin Gaethje v Tony Ferguson Fight

The COVID-19 pandemic shut down all major sporting events since March, leaving little to entertain us with. Many turned to streamers and content creators to discover they actually liked this niche. There was a considerable rise in the popularity of already mainstream streamers like Ninja, summit1g, Shroud, Tfue, and many more. The popular streaming platform, Twitch, observed a meteoric rise in viewership. However, this does not mean gaming and streaming have replaced sporting events; it has simply carved a place alongside them. And with UFC making a return yesterday, we got something of an overlap between the two worlds.

An amazing main event

The UFC 249 fight card went ahead yesterday despite initial fears of suspension. Before COVID-19 wreaked havoc in our lives, the main fight was between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. This was a clash fan were waiting for a long time. It has been scheduled and then canceled multiple times over the past few years. This time was no different with Khabib unable to make the event.

Ferguson, however, was determined to fight someone, if not the undisputed champion. Dana White obliged and set up a fight between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje. The card featured some amazing match-ups, but not all lived up to the expectations. However, all eyes were on the war between Ferguson and Gaethje.

The main event was an absolute spectacle, taking things to a whole new level. Everyone knew Gaethje to be a talented fighter, but he had a tendency to be impatient and almost reckless at times. Yesterday, he was a completely different man. He absolutely picked Ferguson apart, giving him no quarter. This was probably the first time Tony Ferguson was soaked in blood that wasn’t his opponent’s.

The main event was definitely one of the best fights in recent history. You could argue the upset made it even better. Even our beloved streamers had fun watching the fight. In fact, some are already looking forward to what the next fight card will bring.

Summit1g is one of the most popular and experienced streamers around. A former professional CS: GO eSports player, he has since garnered 5 million followers on the streaming platform, Twitch. He has already expressed his desire for the next match-up.

Gaethje, being the interim title now, will face Khabib for the undisputed lightweight title. On the other hand, summit1g wants to see Tony Ferguson go up against The Notorious, Conor McGregor.

Summit was far from the only streamer to have enjoyed the fight yesterday.

Another popular Twitch streamer, Turner “Tfue” Tenney too took to twitter to express his thoughts. We all know Ferguson’s endurance and he definitely impressed Tfue too.

One content creator who did not surprise us was Nickmercs. A fitness nut himself, he was always going to react to the amazing fight from yesterday. He had some glowing words for both fighters.

It is safe to say pretty much everyone enjoyed the fight. Now let’s hope summit1g is on to something and we get to see Conor vs Tony as well.
