Charles Barkley has consistently been one of the most entertaining and outspoken personalities on live television for years. Engaging in playful banter, the MVP of the year 1993 hardly holds back. Due to this nature, the legend has amassed a fanbase as big as his personality. His sense of humor and no-filter approach has made him one of the most loved figures in sports media, but there are two sides to a coin. Although his takes are fun, they can be construed as a little outlandish.

Barkley has made a tremendous impact on sports broadcasting. With five emmy awards to his name. But his bold takes often lead him into muddy waters and one of his latest encounters was with the Miluwakee Bucks superstar Giannis antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak took a playful jab at Chuck calling him out, over some of his past statements but it took a hilarious turn.

During a recent conversation on the All-Star weekend, Giannis approached Chuck, and called him, “Shaq?” Although it’s unclear what he called him, his message was pretty clear: While pointing at Victor Wembanyama, he said, “Back in the day, you couldn’t guard him.” He didn’t just stop there, he added, “So anything you say on TV does not matter. You’ve never faced something like this.” 

The moment had everybody cracking up, because of Barkley’s long standing stance of how much “easier” the modern game of basketball has become in the NBA compared to his era. But the hilarity of the situation comes to light when the fans noticed what Giannis called Chuck. Let’s see what the fans had to say.

Fans React To Giannis Misnaming Chuck

The moment was hilarious and it took the trolls on social media no time to seize the opportunity and roast both Charles and Giannis. Memes flooded social media, with fans poking fun at Giannis for mixing up Chuck and Shaq. One user commented, “Giannis out here calling everybody Shaq now.”  Another fan wrote, “He definitely called him Shaq 🤷.” Almost confirming the error Giannis made. A fan was genuinely confused and commented, “Shaq or Chuck? 😂,” adding to the hilarious mix up. Was it the accent, or was it a genuine mix up?

One fan said,”Barkley would put Wemby through the rim.” Many fans also pointed out the less physical nature of today’s modern game compared to the brutal onslaught that was prevalent in the 80’s and 90’s, with fans saying, “They would be body checking Wemby.” Another fan said, “Wemby would have to play through bruised ribs.”

Despite the endless trolling, the moment shared between the two serves as reminder of Giannis’ charm and relatability.
