The year 2008 saw probably the best heel work Randy Orton has ever done in the WWE. Randy Orton’s rivalry with Triple H will certainly go down as of the best in WWE history.
The third-generation superstar had joined forces with two-second generation superstars. Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Ted DiBiase would further be known as The Legacy.

On the Jan 19th, 2009 edition of RAW, Randy Orton got into an altercation with Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon. Orton then attacked and punted Vince McMahon.
Attacking Vince obviously didn’t sit well with his son Shane McMahon who returned to RAW and attacked Randy Orton. This lead to an Orton vs Shane match at No Way Out.
The two faced off in a no holds barred match, which Orton won. The following night on RAW, they faced off in an unsanctioned match.
This match got ended in a no contest as Orton punted Shane McMahon. Stephanie would then come out to aid her brother, thus, getting Triple H into the picture, taking this rivalry to the next level.

The day in WWE when Triple H and Randy Orton’s rivalry became personal
Following the unsanctioned match on RAW, Stephanie McMahon came to aid her brother Shane Mcmahon who just got punted. Orton would then shockingly RKO Stephanie McMahon.
Triple H couldn’t take it anymore and proceeded to barge to the ring and. However, this would spell doom for him as Orton handcuffed him to the ropes.
Post handcuffing, the event that took place made it personal between the Superstars.

Currently in the WWE, Triple H has taken more of a backstage role. He is now the EVP of Global Talent Strategy & Development. It is no secret he is the godfather of NXT.
If we look at Randy Orton, he is currently back to his heel character. This has been his best heel persona since his rivalry with Triple H.
He also had a great last man standing match with Edge at Wrestlemania 36. He defeated Edge a month later at Backlash in the greatest wrestling match ever.
