Paris St.Germain have reignited their interest in signing Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez.
Pedro signed a new contract at Barcelona until 2019 in early June, and therefore was expected to stay at the club. But recent reports suggest that the Spaniard might be on his way out of Barcelona.
PSG have always shown interest in Pedro and want to strengthen the team to provide stiff competition to the top clubs in the Champions League. Barcelona rejected a lucrative €40 million offer by PSG for Pedro last season, which came as a surprise to many fans, who thought the 28-year-old Spanish international might leave the club. Pedro has been unsettled at Barcelona since the arrival of Neymar in 2013, and got even less playtime last season after the arrival of Luis Suarez.
Pedro has been a second choice behind Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi for Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, but still signed a contract extension with Barcelona. According to reports in Spain, Pedro has been considered as unhappy at the Catalan club due to his lack of playing time and PSG are keeping tabs on the highly rated winger.
Pedro made 43 appearances for the club in all competitions last season, but started only 20 of them and the majority of those came in the first half of the season when Luis Suarez was still serving his four-month football ban. It is almost certain Luis Enrique won’t break the record breaking MSN upfront. Therefore, Pedro will again have to play a second fiddle role at Barcelona and will surely be considering his future at the Catalan giants.
