Manchester City’s star midfielder Yaya Toure has denied all rumours of him leaving Manchester City in the summer transfer window. Despite reported interest from former manager Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan, Toure insists that he wants to continue giving his best for City and wants to go on winning trophies with them.

The 32-year old Ivorian was instrumental in City’s successful 2013-14 season when they won the Premier League and the Capital One Cup. But, both Toure and City have not been able to reach anywhere close to those heights this season as they ended the season trophy-less.

Rumour was that Toure was unhappy at City and was looking to leave the Etihad Stadium. Serie A Club Inter Milan was reported to be interested in him. These rumours seemed to gain credibility when his agent, Dimitri Seluk earlier said that Toure was ‘90% certain to leave Manchester City’. But the 4-time African Footballer of the Year has crushed all these rumours saying he will stay in Manchester for a foreseeable future.

“I will definitely stay. The fans don’t have to be worried,” Toure told Manchester Evening News.

“My target this year is to try to do everything possible to make this team improve well and I am sure with my experience, maybe I hope with the players coming in a couple of weeks, a couple of months, definitely it is going to be a strong City next year.”

Toure even said that he could stay even after his current contract expiry date, which is in 2017.

“Football is like that,” he said. “You get a contract, but after maybe you can continue doing something. For me the target is to continue helping the club to the end.

“I think it is the first club where I have been where the fans have been singing my name for a long time. We have friends, people around you, fans always sing your name. Those things money can’t buy.”

Toure also said that he dreams of winning the Champions League with City.

“It is one of my big targets because City have been in the shadow of (Manchester) United for so long,” he said. “Sometimes their fans are coming back, saying we are the top because we have already won the Champions League.

“What I want for the fans is the Champions League. I will do everything that’s possible.”
