Tottenham Hotspur FC start their 2015-16 campaign with a tough opening day fixture against Manchester United away from home on the 8th of August. Spurs finished 5th in the premier league last season and had to contend with a Europa League spot, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side will fight for a return to the Champions League this season.

After a tough opening day fixture, Tottenham will have a relatively easy set of fixtures for over a month. They will face Stoke City, Leicester City, Everton and Sunderland and then will be hosting Crystal Palace in a derby. After an easy set of fixtures in which only Everton might give them some trouble, Spurs have to be at their very best because they have three difficult fixtures.

First they host title contenders Manchester City at White Hart Lane on the 26th of September and then they travel to the South of Wales in a tricky fixture against Swansea City. After this, Spurs return to London and host Liverpool on the 17th of October, who have defeated Spurs now for 5 straight matches in the Premier League. Then two easy fixtures against newly promoted Bournemouth and relegation threatened Aston Villa will be followed by three consecutive London derbies.

First a trip to Emirates Stadium for a fierce North London derby against Arsenal on the 7th November, and that too just two days after their group stage match in the Europa League. Then they will welcome another London team, West Ham United, and finally Spurs will host the defending champions Chelsea on the 28th of November in their third consecutive derby, and arguably the toughest of all for them. This is not good news for Spurs as they have another group stage match in the Europa League on the 26th of November.

After these tough fixtures, Spurs have a mixed set of matches. West Brom, Newcastle and then a tough match to Southampton away will be followed by two easy matches against newly promoted sides Norwich City on Boxing Day and Watford on the 28th of December.

At the start of 2016, Tottenham travel to Liverpool to face Everton in a tough encounter at Goodison Park. Then five easy matches against Leicester City, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Watford will be followed by a tough trip to Manchester City on the 13th of February. Then a tough set of fixtures follow — first they host Swansea city, then a derby match at West Ham and then another derby- the big one against Arsenal at White Hart Lane on the 5th of March.

As Spurs enter the last phase of the season, relatively easy fixtures against Aston Villa and Bournemouth will be followed by tough fixtures away to Liverpool on the 2nd of April and home to Manchester United on tje 9th of April. Then a tricky trip to Stoke city will be followed by a visiting West Brom team on the 23rd of April.

Spurs have a tough end to their campaign as they face the current champions Chelsea away from home in a London derby on the 30th of April. Then Spurs host Southampton in another tough match, which will be the penultimate match of the season on the 7th of May. The last match of the season for  Spurs will see them go to Tyne for a tough match against Newcastle United on the 15th.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino may not be very happy with the fixtures as his team will have to play three London derbies continuously in November. Moreover, there is not much time to rest for Spurs as they have Group stage matches in Europe just two days before both the Arsenal and Chelsea derbies. Though Spurs have a tough match against Manchester United to start the season, they will try to build momentum in the next five matches which are relatively easy.  After mid-season, Spurs again will have two continuous derbies against Arsenal and West Ham, which won’t please the Spurs manager as well.

Spurs start their campaign in a friendly against MLS all-stars on 30th July before travelling to Germany for the pre-season Audi-Cup, in which they will face Real Madrid on 4th August and Bayern Munich or AC Milan on 5th August.

The main aim of manager Mauricio Pochettino will be to end the season in the top 4 of the Premier League in order to qualify for the Europe’s biggest competition, the UEFA Champions League, and will try to establish the club in Europe by winning the Europa League.

A tricky season ahead for Tottenham Hotspur FC, but one they can hopefully prove themselves in.
