5) Free Kick vs Atletico Madrid

4) Goal v Manchester United , 2009 CL final.
Making a mark in Champions league finals is something every footballer dreams of. In the 2009 final at Rome, Messi had got his first chance of the big occasion. While Messi had already started to prove his greatness by then, due to his height, heading is concerned as a weak part of his game. 3) Goal v Bayern Munich, 2015.
For the first time ever Barcelona were playing a competitive match against the man they idolized, Pep Guardiola. In the first leg of the semi final at Nou camp just minutes after having given Barcelona the lead after a lengthy deadlock, Messi produced a moment to remember for ages. Receiving the ball at the edge of the box, Messi dribbled the ball past Boateng, leaving the defender humiliated on the ground and then chipped the ball over the brillant Manuel Neuer.

2) Goal v Getafe 2007
20 year old Lionel Messi had started to show what an incredible talent he is. The Argentine was already being compared to his nation’s icon Diego Maradona. On this day while Barcelona were playing Getafe the comparisons reached a new height. Receiving the ball at the halfway line, Messi sensationally dribbled past almost the whole Getafe team and cut past the goalkeeper to score. The goal was almost a xerox of Maradona’s goal of the century against England in the 1986 world cup Quarter final.

Great players choose big occasions to prove their greatness. Lionel Messi produced arguably his greatest ever goal in a big final. In the Copa Del Rey final of 2015, in the 20th minute, Messi shocked the world. Dropping deep from the right side, Messi got the ball wide and deep in Bilbao’s half, took on 3 Bilbao players at once cut past everyone and drifted into to give Barcelona the lead. Not only did that goal ensure Barcelona went on to win the Copa Del Rey.
