Recently, New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady posted a video on social media of his training. The short video depicted him throwing passes to an unknown figure, as the back was turned. In an Instagram story, the face was revealed, at a fairly long distance. To that end, many suspect that the mysterious receiver is none other than Patriots teammate, Josh Gordon.
Gordon had been suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Now, the New England Patriots are hoping that the league will reinstate the receiver before the 2019 NFL season begins. If the unknown player really is Gordon, Tom Brady is seriously invested in honing Gordon’s skills and not let him remain idle.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, Brady feels that Gordon needs “fostering” to overcome his personal issues. In fact, some say that Tom Brady has even included Gordon in a few family dinners to further bond with his teammate.
“He recognized that Josh Gordon made the team better and recognized that he was going to need some attention,” said Darlington. “Josh Gordon was going out to dinner with Tom Brady and Gisele [Bundchen] at times because Tom recognized that he needs to bring this guy in, foster him, make him feel like he is at home, recognizing some of the issues that Josh Gordon goes through.”
“While that is, in part, a guy just trying to get better, it’s also Tom Brady being a really good person, continuing to try to help out and manifest Josh Gordon. . . .Tom Brady, to this day, really respects Josh Gordon and would love to see him live a better life.”
So far in his career, Gordon has been on the receiving end of 40 successful passes with 720 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games for the Patriots in 2018. Sadly, his indefinite suspension ruined any chance of improving his stats. In response to the verdict, the Patriots made Gordon a restricted free agent.
Sadly for Gordon, there is still no update on his status as a suspended player. According to, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, “the immediate focus was making sure Gordon is doing what he needs to do to get his life on the right track.”.
