For months, the media has showcased a very negative image of Tokyo and the citizens of Japan. They made it seem as if all of Japan was against the Tokyo Olympics 2020 taking place amid the pandemic and the sudden decision to not allow spectators.

Team USA wrestling was in for a surprise as they were on their team bus on the way to training. Team USA?s wrestling page on Twitter posted a very heart-warming video which many athletes, such as Sarah Hildebrandt, reposted.

A warm welcome for Team USA?

Team USA was on their way to practice on their team bus when they saw fans. They filled the sidewalks. Residents of Tokyo lined up all along the footpaths to give team USA wrestling a very warm welcome to their city.

They waved around the American flag, showing their love and support for the nation. The athletes were very surprised at this reaction, given what the media had been portraying. They portrayed a very negative and hostile crowd.

The Americans loved this gesture and many of them went online to reciprocate their love for the citizens of Tokyo.

Sarah Hildebrandt?

The 5-time Pan American Wrestling Championships gold medalist took to her Twitter to give back some of the love she received in Tokyo.

She said, ?Japan, thank you so much for your hospitality and warm welcome!!! We are so excited to be here and to compete!?

Sarah Hildebrandt?is one of the athletes representing Team USA in wrestling. The silver medalist at the World Championships wrestles at the 53 kg, freestyle wrestling category. She looks to get a podium finish at her first-ever Olympics.
