Rowing has seven categories for men and women at the Tokyo Olympics. They are coxless pair, coxless four, coxed eight, single sculls, double sculls, quadruple sculls, and lightweight double sculls.
The process of propelling a boat forward using both the port (left) and starboard (right) oars is called Sculling.

Norway’s lightweight double sculls team, Kristoffer Brun and Are Weierholt Strandli were knocked over in startling developments at the Tokyo Olympics.
On Wednesday, conditions at the Sea Forest Waterway rapidly deteriorated, with rowers straining to manage turbulent waters and strong winds.

Norway was in the semi-finals and was in second place. They were on track to make the final until the weather circumstances threw them off.
Norway’s rowers were thankfully rescued and towed to safety after the race, but it was a tragic end to their Olympic aspirations. Somehow the team was still adamant about finishing the race. Eventually, they returned to their boat to complete the semi-final.
With a time of 12:16.25, it was more than double that of semi-final winners Germany. Uruguay and the Czech Republic have also qualified along with them for the final.
Other incidents from the Rowing event at the Tokyo Olympics
Norway’s accident?comes only hours after another dramatic late-race event, in which Britain’s coxless four nearly collided with Italy’s in the competition’s final.
A 20-year dominant run came to an end when Britain’s men’s coxless four failed to win gold for the first time since 1996.
Ollie Cook, Matt Rossiter, Rory Gibbs, and Sholto Carnegie completely disintegrated in the final moments of a race. They had dominated for five Olympic Games, yet shockingly exited the competition.
