Even though she had qualified for Tokyo, the World Triathlon collected Yulia’s sample during an ongoing competition on 5th June 2021. It happened during the Europe Triathlon Cup Dnipro, organised in Ukraine this year. Despite winning the race, the results were not in her favour. Unfortunately, Recombinant Erythropoietin (EPO) is the main culprit.

Yulia’s doping test in Tokyo

The ITA (International Testing Agency) gave out an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) informing the World Triathlon. Apparently, the informational exchange occurred on 24th July by the World Anti-Doping Agency, accredited by the laboratory of Warsaw, Poland.

It was an out-of-competition test that was conducted in Tokyo, on July 23 Tokyo. Just like before, they found recombinant erythropoietin (EPO) again! This test was under the regulations of the Testing Authority of the International Olympic Committee and thus, they carried it out during an out-of-competition anti-doping control.
