The USWNT and the Netherlands are clashing at the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 women’s football tournament. After Viviane Miedema gave the dutch an early lead, USWNT came up with 2 goals in a span of 3 minutes to lead at the halftime break.

Sam Mewis struck a diving header that hit the target to level the score for the USWNT. Lynn Williams then scored the second for the USWNT giving them the lead and completing the comeback. This was Williams’ first Olympic start of her career. Miedema struck once again after the halftime break to level the score for the Dutch.

Megan Rapinoe and Kristie Mewis were absolutely ecstatic as they watched the two goals go in to bring the USWNT ahead.

But their joy was short-lived as Miedema equalized not so long after the second half of the match started.

The USWNT made some required adjustments and brought on 3 substitutes. Alex Morgan replaced Carli Lloyd. Rose Lavelle replaced Sam Mewis and Christen Press came on for Lynn Williams.

Megan Rapinoe came on for Tobin Heath at the 64th minute of the contest.

The Netherlands got a penalty awarded to them at the 80th minute of the match. However, US shot-stopper Alyssa Naeher managed to pull off a great save to keep the scores level.

Fans across the internet lauded the goalkeeper for her clutch save at such a crucial time.

The game moves on to the extra time as the teams couldn’t be separated after the end of 90 minutes.

VAR ruled out a Nethlenads goal at the 96th minute of the match.

Julie Ertz showed off some incredible defensive work at the 100th minute of the match.

Alyssa Naeher came up with yet another stunning save at the 103rd minute of the match.

The US team has a goal disallowed for offside.

The game moves on to the penalty shootout.

Miedema is denied by Naeher again.
