Tiger Woods Equals Sam Snead’s Record for most Number of PGA Tour Titles

Tiger Woods has reached the number 82. 82 PGA tour titles now, equalling Sam Snead’s record for most number of PGA Tour titles.

Woods won the inaugural Zozo Championship?in Japan by three shots over?local favourite Hideki Matsuyama.?It was the second title of the year for Woods, who won the Masters in April.

For a long time, Snead’s record remained unperturbed in top, but it is now being shared by Tiger Woods. Snead, who died in 2002 aged 89, had the set the record long before Woods had made his debut. It was in 1965 that Snead had won the last of his titles, while Woods won his first title in 1996 in Las Vegas, with his first major coming at the Masters the following year.

Talking about his victory after the match, Woods said: ?This was a big win. It?s just crazy. It?s a lot. I?ve been consistent most of my career. Today was one of those days when I was able to pull it out.?

?It?s satisfying to dig my way out of it and figure it out, figure out a way,? Woods said. ?There are some hard times to figure it out, but I?ve come back with different games over the years.?

“I think it’s the mind,” Woods said when asked what the most difficult part of the quick turnaround was, as per Morfit. “Being in it for 10 hours is a long period of time … the mind tends to wander a little bit and just got to grab it and make it come back and be 100 percent committed on the shot.”

Among many singing praises of Woods was US open champion Gary Woodland, who was paired with Woods over the final 36 holes in Japan. ?You look at the guys that have won 10 times and it’s pretty special, let alone to come out here and win 82 times,? he said.
