It was 2014. A time when the rivalry between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier was at its peak. A scheduled fight between the two was postponed to UFC 182. It was almost as if the two could not wait get hold of each other.
On a media day prior to their Championship bout, a brawl broke out between the two. When the two went head-to-head, Cormier put his hands on Jones’ throat and pushed him.

It didn’t take long before everyone was trying to separate Jones and Cormier.
Among the crowd watching the brawl was Conor McGregor. He seemed to be taking pictures while watching along with the crowd.
The brawl would later be called as something that UFC sells, by a former public relations personnel of UFC.
“I didn’t have the feeling it was going to become as volatile as it became,” Dave Sholler, former UFC Vice President of Public Relations, Athlete Marketing and Development, told MMA Junkie before Jones and Cormier were about to meet in 2017 at UFC 214. “It didn’t feel to me like any other press conference, other than that I was excited for the fight itself. I just knew it was going to be electric, I knew that there was bad blood. But quite frankly, when you talk about Chuck (Liddell) and Tito (Ortiz) and Randy (Couture) and some of those big fights, there’s been bad blood in the UFC before. The UFC sells best when there’s bad blood.”
The Jon Jones – Daniel Cormier rivalry
Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier met twice in UFC.
Their first meeting in 2014 at UFC 182 lasted the full duration. After five rounds, Jones eventually won by decision.
Four years later, they would meet once again at UFC 214, with Cormier being the Champion this time.
A thunderous headkick from Jones knocked Cormier out. The decision was, however, later overturned after Jones was tested positive for steroids.

Many were thinking about a the prospect of a third clash between the two. But Jones has recently turned down the possibilities of an extended rivalry.
I feel like the move is inevitable but as of right now, Im dominating fights and making weight just fine. Daniels and I not reverie, but beef started at the light heavyweight division and that’s where it should end.(even though I could’ve sworn I ended this once or twice already)

Despite what he says to the media, I will guarantee you guys there will be no third fight. No way will he lose that weight again, no way will he be willing to reface those nightmares that comes when facing the beast.
